I am having a hard time finding information on the 40th Al. Infantry. My ancestors; Napolean Dearman, James Dearman, William Dearman, James Stallings, and William Stallings fought for this unit.
James Dearman enlisted 13 Sept 1862 at Sumter Co, Al. and was captured at Bentonville on 19 March 1865.
Napolean Dearman died in 1863. Could someone on this list enlighten me as to what unit engagements or activities would have been happening at the time Napolean died and when James was captured?
