I agree that this is probably true. However, I would be *very* interested in where they got this tidbit of information. I have been through all the records that I can find on this unit, and I've only found records of approximately 50% of the men's home counties. Most were not mustered in their home county, so unless the home county is shown, that is not a valid comparison.

We should also keep in mind that many Alabamians joined Union units that were not designated as "Alabama" units. I have documented over two dozen white men of Pickens County who joined Union units. And, Pickens County was had one of the lowest rates of Unionism in the State. About 1/4 of those two dozen joined non-Alabama units. I'm sure some African-Descent men of Pickens County joined the Union Army, but so far, I have not been able to document any. [I have documented some Pickens County African-Descent men in Confederate units, however, and know that there are others that I have not yet identified.]
