I don't know of any substantial information on the unit. The file at ADAH is supposed to contain "directors' correspondence" and there are only a couple of comments in the _Confederate Veteran_. They had two major battles, Shiloh and Mobile, but they received commendations from Gen'ls Jones M. Withers and John R. Chalmers while at Shiloh. I assume those reports are in the _Official Records_ (but I didn't check...)

It is my understanding they were reorganized after Shiloh and remained in the defenses of Mobile until the city fell. You might find some general information in Arthur Bergeron's _Confederate Mobile_
