1st AL Artillery Battalion

Hayes Lowe posted this information earlier, regarding Major Stephen S. Tucker:

"Gen. Tucker was a native of Vermont, and a graduate of West Point. He served with distinction in Mexico and Nicaragua, and his commission as major general arrived a few days after his death."

I want to learn more about this man, how he happened to be in Alabama, perhaps when/where he died and under what circumstances, and possibly where he is buried. Robert Krick, in _Lee's Colonels_ merely states that he was born in 1807 and died in 1861. He received his major's commission in March 1861.

Anything?
