Erick,
The Ala Cadets, having arrived by train from
Montgomery, disembarked at Chehaw Station and
moved ahead and as crossing Ufaupee Creek were
fired on and moved ahead to the cut just above
Beasley's Tank; the remaining troops disembarked
and formed in line of battle in a broad swamp; I
figure if you are relic hunting, the best place
is in the area of what was Beasley's Gin House
and to the east; the Confederate forces did have
a small field piece with them and the Union troops
(5th Iowa Cav and 8th Indiana Cav, at least)
should have been armed with Spencers; casualty
figures I have seen were Confederate, 70 killed
and wounded and Union 3 killed and 8 wounded.
