Maplesville Restaurant walls packed with C.S. $$ !

Hey y'all,
I had to share this with y'all, because it made me sick when I heard it. Today a fella told me that he knew a guy who helped tear down a little old restuarant in Maplesville, Al., about 20 or 30 years ago. He said the guy told him that when they tore it down the walls were packed with Confederate money. I excitedly asked him what happened to it all, and he said the guy had told him besides a handfull that he kept for himself, he took it all to the city dump and threw it all away. That just made me sick!! What kind of nincompoop would do that!!?? Even if it was all worthless then, it was a part of our Southern, and U.S., heritage and history, sacred to the memory of our ancestors and what they fought and died for, their sacrifices, what all they took part in!! My uncle still has a folded up sheet of C.S. War Bonds and about $1,150.00 in C.S. money that had been handed down in my grandmother's family. On the back of one of the bills in my g.g.grandfather's handwriting is written; "This is the first bill I recieved into my hand when our new Southern government came into being." Or something to that respect. There is also some old brownish paper, with slight lines on them, which appears to be some sort of writing paper. In the same handwriting is written; "The last Confederate paper." There are also some original S.C. newspaper clippings, one of which is dated March (?), 1865, telling of battles, ordeals, etc.. It is all in a safe deposit box. I can't imagine anyone wanting to throw it all away. For the life of me, I can't imagine that guy throwing all that C.S. money he found away. In my younger days I would have said he needed a swift kick in the pants!
I just thought I would share that with y'all and see if it made you as sick as it made me.
Take care,
Dave
