i have been searching for the burial site of my ancestor. family history says he is buried in family cemetery, records say he died in route to prisoner exchange in Vicksburg. recently i heard that there were 'death trains' trains coming from Vicksburg to Atlanta in which a body of a soldier would be placed on the train and delivered to the place of enlistement along this route for the families to claim? does anyone on this site have any information about these trains? this would explain for me HOW his body got from Vicksburg to the family cemetery. any information regarding this 'train' would be greatly appreciated. thanks
