From my notes, which are based on a review of NARA service records filed for the 3rd Reserve Battalion:
"The Confederacy’s collapse found this battalion scattered among various military posts in central Alabama. Some survivors surrendered with General Richard Taylor’s army at Meridian, Mississippi, May 11, 1865. Most received individual paroles at points such as Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery and Selma."
