Records of the 11th Alabama show that Nathaniel P. Muse, William C. Muse and William D. Hopkins belonged to this company. Nathaniel P. Muse was appointed 3rd Sgt. of Company "K" but declined. Officer and men of this company, Capt. Henry Talbird's "Independent Volunteers", enlisted at Marion, Ala. on June 11, 1861.

Nathaniel Muse was killed at Frazier's Farm VA June 30, 1862. Perhaps you have seen Don Troiani's painting, "Southern Cross", which shows officers and men of the 11th Alabama fighting McCall's Pennsylvania Reserves at Frazier's Farm.
