From That Terrible Field. Civil War Letters of James M. Williams 21st Alabama Infantry. ed. J. K. Folmar

from the Book Guy review: "Not only a useful account of the Mobile theater, but also a first-person guide to the rigors -- and boredom -- of camp life and the concerns of the men in the field." www.bookguy.com/Catalog/Military/ltrconf.htm#Alabama

This is an out of print book that can be obtained from "The Book Guy." I have found this a good site for finding Conf. related items and he is a joy to deal with.

Williams' wrote home about George Dixon's wounds from Shiloh and told his wife about the $20 gold piece being bent. This -- and the finding of the coin on the Hunley -- proved the local paper's characterization of this story of merely aprophical as a sad error.

Col. Williams' grave is now marked and there will be a memorial ceremony held by the Bonnie Blue Flag Chapter of the UDC next April in conjunction with Confederate Memorial Month.
