In Response To: Missionary Ridge prisioners ()

The man you are looking for is most probably 1ST Lt. J.J. Richardson of Company E 25TH Alabama Infantry Regiment. This unit was in the battles about Chattanooga. As the prison camp at Johnson's Island, Ohio was with VERY FEW exceptions exclusively an officer's prison, that would explain why he was sent there. Rock Island Prison Barracks, Illinois was for enlisted men and most all prisoners taken arround Chattanooga were sent there.

According to Broadfoot's Roster, this is the only Alabama officer by that name and since the 25TH Ala. was involved in the Chattanooga battles, this is why I come to this conclusion.
