I have four CDV's of Ala cadet/militia? obviously
postwar, as one is dtd 1882 and another 1886;all
appear to have Ala Map on Tree high dome buttons;
I had always been under the impression that buttons
of this type were not used following the war; they
were taken at various studios in Ala and Miss and
all appear to be mature soldiers as they all are
sporting well trimmed mustaches; anyone have any
thoughts as to who I may be looking at and what
about the buttons? one in particular, dated 1886
counting sleeve buttons has a total of 35 plus a
crossbelt w/ the number 2 and a belt plate w/ the
letter L plus a large bearskin helmet w/ tassels;
all four have epaulets if that means anything.
