Issac Pharrus joined Company F of the 41st Alabama on 18 February 1863. He was hospitalized at Howard's Grove on 16 Sept 1854. He was furloughed home for 45 days on 23 Sept 1864. This length of furlough suggests that he was WIA. The 41st Muster Roster for Jan/Feb 1865 reports, "Deserted in Oct 1864." There may be several extenuating circumstances beyond his control for his failure to return. Have you checked the Pension Records at the State Archives in Montgomery?
