Greetings Ken,

As we are working on a graves registration project of Alabama CW Vets, it was a joy to add the information you posted to our listing. We can share a small bit of info on S. W. Stewart of Company G, 46th Ala. Inf. as gleaned from the CSR:

(Stewart, John G. T. - Ended his service with the rank of Cpl. Born 09/22/1848. Died 03/03/1876. Buried in the Little Oak Cem., Pike Co., Alabama. Enlisted March 19, 1862 at Smilies Bridge, Pike Co., Alabama by Capt. Nathaniel G. Oattis (substitute for S. W. Stewart). Mustered in at Greenville, Alabama on April 6, 1862. Captured at the fall of Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863 and paroled six days later. Furloughed about July 22, 1863 at Enterprise, Mississippi. Served extra duty from November 1863 through January 1864 as a butcher. Appears on a Receipt Roll for Clothing for the 1st Quarter 1864.)
