Have a query about a father/son team serving in the 11th AL Cavalry ... maybe. The father was Lt. Col. John F. Doan, and the son was Capt. James Headley Doan. Both men were from Iuka, MS, and they apparently joined the regiment there. John was originally listed as a Captain of Co. "B" and later promoted to Lt. Col., but James does not show up on the muster rolls for this unit at all. According to his gravestone in Iuka, MS, however, he was in the unit.
