Gen. James W. Moore, UCV

I am now searching for any information on James W. Moore. According to his obit, he died in Selma in Feb. 1951 at age 99. He was identified as Gen. James W. Moore,
Commander of the United Confederate Veterans. The obituary indicated that ran off from his grandparent's home in Newman, Geo, and enlisted in Morgan's Partisan
Rangers w/ Wheeler's Cavalry at age 13. After about a year, his Captain brought him back to Ala. telling him that boys of his age were no longer needed. He later attended
VMI and graduated in 1873. At the time of his death, he was VMI's oldest living graduate. He was on "This is Your Life" with Mrs. Marion Goldwyn and her daughter Bonnie
Jo.

The dates in the obit may be off -- If he turned 99 in Jan 1961, he would have been born in 1852. He would not have turned 13 until Jan. 1865. Obviously, he couldn't
have been in the service for a year.

Your Obedient Servant,
