Re: Fort Harker
In Response To: Fort Harker ()

On March 30th I replied to another query about Fort Harker:

A map of Fort Harker can be found in the Official Atlas of the Civil War. It was built by men of the 64th & 65th Ohio Infantry as well as the 51st Indiana and 9th Kentucky during their occupation of Stevenson during the summer of 1862. There is a cemetery nearby which evidently includes burials of Federal soldiers and associated personnel, and visitors to Jackson County may tour the site. It is named for the Federal officer who commanded the brigade mentioned above. There are web sites for General Harker, who was killed at Kennesaw Mtn GA, June 27, 1864.
