For those of you with "dialup" and/or slower connections, trying to display several hundred messages on the "Message Index Page" can take a long time.

The "New" ALCWMB, unlike the old message board is not paginated or divided up into multiple pages by the WebBBS software. This means that all "current" or unarchived messages will be displayed according to your individual "Set Preferences" settings.

To display fewer messages on your "Message Index Page", click on "Set Preferences" in the "Navigation Bar". Under "List Messages" you will see a selected or blackened circle. This black circle will probably be next to "Posted within the last" and an input box and drop-down selection box. The first box accepts numbers (1,2,3,...) the second box should be clicked on the "down arrow" and will reveal the selections of hours, days, weeks and months. The default setting for this message board is four (4) weeks of messages. If you would like to decrease or increase the number of messages displayed you can change these settings by "number" and "hours, days, weeks or months". If you'd like to see only the last three days of messages, enter "3" in the first box and after clicking on the "down arrow" click on "days". Now when you return to the Message Index page you will only see messages and responses posted within the last three days. Experiment with these settings and others on the board and I believe you'll find your visits more enjoyable.

Your new settings will be save to your "personal preference" or "cookie" file and will remain your choices until you change them in the future.
