Know anything 'bout the earthworks in Selma, Ala.?

Hello Y'all,
Recently, Mike Schaefer(a frequent visitor on this forum) and I saw a bunch of finely preserved earthworks, complete with redans/redoubts, etc., in the woods around Selma, Alabama. Over the last few years, another section of perfectly preserved earthworks have already been bulldozed by that black church on Range Line Road. The works stretched all the way across its grounds, crossing an entire block. They were in almost "mint" condition in 1979. Now they have been bulldozed and flattened and only a couple of mounds and traces are left, mainly where the monument on that road is. Now I am worried about the future of the earthworks in the woods, especially after seeing a sewage manhole w/cover and a telephone pole with hanging wires and cables near the earthworks. I don't want these fine historical earthworks, a part of our history, wind up under a new neighborhood or something.
My question is this: Does anyone know about these earthworks and/or trenches in Selma? If so, do you know if there is any effort going on or if steps have been taken to preserve or protect them from developers!!?? I am going to try to find out who owns that land and talk to them and see if I can find out anything!
Thanks,
Dave
