Here's some information about Hardie's Company, which later served as Company "A" of Hardie's Cavalry Battalion:

Company "A" of Talladega and Randolph Counties

Joseph Hardie. Promoted Major [September 21,] 1864, to rank from September 7, 1864; formerly 1st Lieutenant and Adjutant, 4th Alabama Infantry Regiment.
George M. Bonner. Promoted Captain [September 21,] 1864, to rank from September 7, 1864. Paroled at Talladega, Alabama, May 15, 1865.

This company organized as a six-month local defense company [at Talladega, Alabama] May 11, 1863. Those eligible for service as reserves reenlisted at Talladega, Alabama, April 15, 1864, mustering there on October 4, 1864. Some members were later assigned to Company "K".
