Robert, There is an excellent booklet (82 pages) entitled "The Defenses of the Lower Mobile Bay" by Dale Manuel P.O.Box 517 Del Valle, Texas 78617. This was copywritted 1999 so it should still be available. I purchased my copy at the gift shop at Fort Gaines last May for $4.99 plus tax.

This work is full of blueprint diagrams, many photographs, and artist's drawings of both Forts Gaines and Morgan with detailed descriptions of the forts as well as the construction history of them.
