I can't find any further service record for Thomas J. Murdock, either North or South. Tom Murdock was born in Ohio or Pennsylvania and moved to Mobile in late 1840's.

Were these men generally "loyal Patriots" or as I've seen in some earlier postings just chosen like "jurors"? If this was his only service, and if he remained in Mobile, as it appears he did, how might he have stayed out of further military service? He was a "painter" by trade, so I don't think he would've been exempt.

Perhaps you others might be able to comment on this.
