Thanks for your kind assistance. The Cagle brothers may be the fellows I seek. It would have taken me quite a while to check the 1860 Geogria Census to find a connection between William & Franklin.

If you are interested I will post a transcript of the letter, which was published in an Iowa newspaper several weeks after the battle of Bristoe Station, Virginia.
