Elaine, My William Walker owned a tavern there and this was at Pole Cat Springs. This was in Macon County, Alabama near Shorter Alabama. He married Nancy Ann Cornell in Wayne County Georgia in 1811. She was the granddaughter of Big Warrior. (George Washingto Cornell) There was two Big Warriors. See Angie Debo's Road to Disappearance. There were also two or more William Walkers.
