Ronnie --

You mentioned going to Citronelle AL. Only General Taylor, one aide and two slaves were present when the agreement was made with General Canby on May 4th. Soldiers learned of the surrender shortly afterwards. Service records for Stephen and Thomas J. Eubanks show that they signed paroles with Captain Sclater at Meridian MS, May 10, 1865. Battery members went to Meridian after the evacuation of Mobile on April 12th. Charles P. Eubanks wasn't present at the time and returned to Mobile for his parole on June 5, 1865.

The service records also show that Charles, Stephen and Thomas J. Eubanks enrolled at Cantonmen Walter near Mobile AL in February 1862. On Sept. 25, 1862, they were temporarily assigned to Tobin's Tennessee Battery at Baldwyn MS. After receiving paroles at Vicksburg MS, July 10, 1863, they were returned to Emanuel's Battery. All three must have gone home on furlough after being paroled and remained in exchange camp (probably Demopolis AL) until formally exchanged. These three were assigned to Charpentier's Battery on April 23, 1864, serving with that command in central Alabama. All three received clothing at Selma AL, June 23, 1864. In the fall of 1864 they returned to their original command uder Lieut. Col. Quattlebaum in the defense of Mobile.

The service file for Charles P. Eubanks show that he was sent from Mobile to a general hospital at Lauderdale Springs MS on Oct. 30, 1864.

I hope you find the details useful.
