Re: Claims
In Response To: Claims ()

Quinn,

I'm unable to answer your question, but I do want you to know about one claim. Don't know if this will assist you at all, however.

ADAH has posted the following information regarding a claim for one of my kinsmen:

Last Name: Bonner
Date of Birth:
Death Info:
Discharge Date:
Discharge Info:
Branch: Infantry
Regimental Unit: 3rd Alabama
Company Unit: C
Co. Unit Name:
Pension Rec:
Authority: List, Condition of Claims, 2nd Aud., C.S. Treas.

First Name: Andrew MI:
Marital Status:
Occupation:
Enlistment Date:
Enlistment Info: Private
Engagements:
Engage. con't:
Remarks: Claim filed by Nancy E. Bonner, widow, care H.J.Y. Moss, Butler, Alabama May 9, 1863
Remarks con't:
********
This did not show up here as at ADAH site, but....

This claim appears to be the ONLY evidence of Andrew BONNER's service and the ONLY evidence that he had a wife.

1. He did not have a tombstone in the 1970s when I visited the cemetery where he is supposedly buried.
2. He was not listed as having a wife or as having CSA service in a family genealogy published in 1984.
3. The one person who should have known about the CSA service and the wife if anyone did never mentioned either to me in the early 70s.
4. Andrew BONNER's name does not appear on the National Archive microfilm of BONNERs who served in the CSA, nor do I find a likely candidate. However, I did not copy all variant spellings.
5. Andrew BONNER's name does not appear on the muster roll
for 3rd Alabama Infantry, Company C that Dr. Jones kindly sent to me.

So, this claim is very important to me in verifying Andrew BONNER's CSA service and his wife.

Can anyone tell me whether this is a document housed at ADAH or at NARA? Where do I obtain a copy of same?

Thanks for any insight!

Margaret
