Perhaps, but we would need a date, place and unit identifications of the condemned.

For what it's worth, John Massey served with the First Battalion of Hilliard's Legion. Adjutants of the Legion itself were Lieutenants William Preston Hilliard and James Nicholas Gilmer.

Massey was appointed 1st Lieutenant and Adjutant [July 17,] 1862, to rank June 30, 1862. He was wounded at Chickamauga, Georgia, September 20, 1863. I don't have later service assignments for him after the Legion was reorganized (Nov. 25, 1863). Massey's name appears in the class of 1861, University of Alabama, and is mentioned in Owen's Dictionary of Alabama Biography, vol. 4 p. 1172.
