Co D, 4th Confederate Inf Rgt (Gulf Rangers)
organized Sep 14, 1861 in the part of Coffee
that later became Geneva County, under the
command of Capt Henry Wesley Laird; 98 officers
and men, believed by many to have been related
in some way; at least a dozen on the initial
muster roll died as POW's; I have not seen the
roll on line but it can be found at NARA on
"Records of Confederate Soldiers" Microcopy
No. 258, rolls 64, 65 and possibly 66.
