I don't know how I missed them, but, alas.

Here they are, don't look like Color Bearer material to me. Dowd of the 24th Mississippi was the regimental Colonel. No other Dowd on their roster.

July 2, 1863, forwarded from Harrisburg, Pa., to Philadelphia, Pa., July 21, 1863, released on taking the Oath of Allegiance to the US November 17, 1863, description: resident of Warren Co.,, Miss., fair complexion, black hair, 5' 10-1/2", "Released but still in the employ of Government"

Description: Born in Mississippi, Farmer, resident of Bovina, Miss., age 20 on enlistment, single

* This company subsequently became Company H (Warren Volunteers), 21st Mississippi Infantry

Dowd, Colonel, Field & Staff, 24th Mississippi Infantry, enrolled November 6, 1861 at Marion, Mississippi, absent sick until April 21, 1863, subsequently detached on recruiting duty, resigned January 19, 1864, appointed Mem Court, Col. & Judge, Military Court, North Alabama April 13, 1864
