confederate regiments at Little Round Top

As I understand it, the rebel regiments trying to take LRT the afternoon of July 2 were the 4th Texas, 5th Texas, 4th Alabama, 47th Alabama and 45th Alabama, with the 48th Alabama at the base of BRT. My question concerns their condition that afternoon: were they as exhausted and thirsty as the men of the 44th Alabama were? Had they marched as far in one day, and had as little water? Was this a factor in the 20th Maine carrying the day for the Union? Has anyone else ever posed this question?
