Re: Joel Coffee 49th Alabama Regt

I'm back to square one. I read all of the records for the man in Co. B, 49th Infantry and found out that he was discharged at the age of 55. That puts him 20 years older than my William Joel Coffee/Coffey. There was another Joel Coffey in Co. E, 12th Alabama Infantry, but he died on the battlefield (and was around 17 years old). So, that puts me back to the man in Co. B, 12th Alabama Infantry. The question to be answered is, "Why would a man from Morgan County enlist in a company from Coosa County when the 12th also recruited in Morgan County?" If anyone has any thoughts I'd appreciate hearing them. Also, I don't know if the W. J. Coffee in Co. B, 12th Infantry had a pension record that might shed some light.
