Re: "standard" longarm of Law's Brigade

Per Capt. Joseph Q. Burton's "Sketch of the 47th Regiment Alabama Volunteers," in late June or early July, 1862, the 47th Alabama Infantry was armed with "captured" Lorenz rifled muskets taken by Stonewall Jackson during his Valley Campaign. Whether they were .54 or .58 caliber is debateable, as Lorenz rifled muskets in the Federal service are known to have been rerifled to the standard .58 caliber. I have to assume that the 47th Alabama at least had smoothbore muskets from mustering in at Loachapoka up to this point, but have not located any documentation. By the time they joined Law's Brigade it was a mixture of rifled musket models judging from surviving ammunition requistions [echoing Allen Pitt's statement].
