Re: "standard" longarm of Law's Brigade

Drake's CSR includes more information about arms and equipment than could be easily cited. Unfortunately there's nothing available after January until July 26, 1863. On the latter date the following damaged firearms were turned over to him - 17 cal 54, 39 cal 58, 15 cal 69.

Lt Drake issued the following arms boxes, 1,000 cartridges per box -
Jan 19, 1863: 4 cal 58, 3 cal 54 and 1 cal 69.
Aug 19, 1863: 3 cal 57-58, 2 cal 69
Aug 27, 1863: 10 cal 57-58 plus 600 pistol cartridges.

Lt Drake issued the following arms --
Aug 13, 1863: 40 Richmond rifles, cal 57-58 with bayonets
Aug 13, 1863: 20 Enfield rifles, cal 57 with bayonets
Aug 13, 1863: 80 smoothbore muskets, cal 59 with bayonets
Aug 19, 1863: 80 Richmond rifles, cal 57-58 with bayonets

Drake, a resident of Pontotoc Mississippi, was captured with the ordnance trains, Amelia Courthouse Virginia, Apr 5, 1865, and released on oath at Johnson's Island, Ohio, June 17, 1865. His age was listed as 24 at that time.
