Re: Huntsville, AL - April 11, 1862

Mitchells taking of Huntsville on that day has always fascinated me. I had a grandfather captured. Giles L Wilson,Co.K,9th La.Infantry. After exchange from Camp Chase, the men subsequently became Co.M,12th La Infantry.

See Supplement to ORs Co.M,12th La.Infantry.

Sept.22,1862

"The reenlisted men(9th La.)were furloughed and were returning to Virginia in company with said recruits and under my command, when they and myself were taken prisoners at Huntsville,Alabama April 11,1862. Several of my men escaped,of whom I have no further information....."
