My G-G-Grandfather was a nurse and ward master at the hospital located at Camp Watts, so this has been an topic of interest for me since i was a teenager. It has always been assumed by those "in the know" that the camp was located off of Co. Rd. 52 in the large field near the clump of trees where the cemetery is located. The fact that bodies were buried there is undisputed. The fact that there is one gave marker for George Weedon Arnold, who was a Confederate soldier and died at the Camp Watts Hospital (Stout Papers), is also undisputed. There is no concrete evidence that that particular cemetery is the cemetery for Camp Watts; it probably is, but this is an assumption.

Great doubt has been raised as to this spot being the location of the Camp since a radar survey of the area was done many years ago by Auburn University an revealed almost nothing. With Camp Watts being as large as it was there would still be material left in the ground (if you can find an arrowhead made thousands of years ago you should be able to find something made 146 years ago). I too believe Camp Watts was located closer to Notasulga, and closer to the rail line as well.
