These Gaines men are a bit Distant to me. My Gaines ancestors originate from Culpeper County, Virginia.I did trace this guys Grandfather to CUlpepr County or an adjacent Countyu. THis guy was related to me by his Grandfather being a brother to my 4 gt grand father. So I guess he was a 3rd maybe 2nd Cousin to my Gt Gt Grand father if I am getting this correctly. It is cool to see Relatives in Different units of the Confederacy. The Gaines that I am closest to are from Northern Kentucky. THey were northern Kentukcy Confederate Cavalry. My Gt Gt grand fathers and uncles that were Confederates were virginia and Kentucky Confederates.Alan, I think you said your acnestor was 35th Bama and then a battery from Alabama.
