Re: William M Braden, 27th Alabama Regt

Alan -
My William M (?) Braden was born in Talladega County, AL 1828-1830, the first son of John Braden and Patsy Martha Sarah Caldwell. The 1860 Census shows William living in Pontotoc County, MS with a wife, Amanda Elizabeth, born in GA approx. 1840, age 20 and a son, Solomon, born in MS 1860, age 4 months. Also in the household was Perry Braden, which we believe is William's brother. William was a farmer.

I don't have a problem ordering the military records. My main concern is that I receive the correct records for the correct William Braden. There were several men with this name, some served in MS and some in AL. My William started in MS with the 3rd Battalion Infantry (Hardcastles & Williams), Company I - Insurgents, which became the 45th MS Infantry and then returned to the 3rd Battalion - so a cousin tells me anyway. Supposedly, he also served in the 10th AL Infantry, Co. F which was organized in Montgomery, AL on 6/4/1861, but I can't confirm this.

Thanks again for all your help. I'm going to speak with my cousin again before I order William's service records. Maybe I missed some detail along the way - but I don't think so.

Denise
