Found Civil War button in Bessemer

Hello everyone, I recently found an Eagle button (Possibly off of the cuff) at a construction site in downtown Bessemer. There are no letters in the sheild on the eagles breast. I was wondering if there is any information as to wether or not there may have been any camps located in Bessemer as I haven't heard of any skirmishes there. The button was found behind simmons sports where the old bottling company used to be and Ive been told a bakery and other buildings where there and had burnt down at one time. I also have learned that the railroads were going over that particular block in the mid to late 1800's. I'd say the button was found one block over from the bessemer hall of history and was possibly 8 inches or more deep. I found it with my metal detector 2 inches deep as the construction crew had scraped the dirt from the top and hauled it off. Any information or theory's i much appreciated. For anyone interested I will gladly email you a pictur of the button I found. Thanks and have a great day. Michael
