Here are a few snippets from the regiments Record of Events for the period in question. Strange, they report no incident of deaths by disease, nor mention of a Camp Jones.

Regiment Muster for the month of June, 1861 dated July 7, 1861, stationed in camp near Richmond, Va.

Left Montgomery, Ala. between the 27th and 30th day of June 1861 for Richmond, Va. and concentrated at this place July 3, 1861

F &S June 4 to July 31, 1861, stationed in Camp near Bristoe Station

Company A July & Aug., 1861, dated Aug. 31, 1861 - Stationed at Fairfax Station

At Battle of Manassas under Col. Gibbons 10th Regt. Va. Vol. with 4th Brigade - Gen. Elzey's. Suffered no loss. Was on picket at Mason Hill from Aug. 28 until 31 Aug't.

Company B, July & August, 1861, dated August 31, 1861 - Stationed in Camp Fairfax Station

This company known at its organization at home as the Rockingham Rifles left home on the morning of the 18th April 1861 and reported at Harper's Ferry at 9 o'clock that night. It went from there to Winchester, from Winchester to Romney back to Winchester, then to near Martinsburg & back. Left Winchester on the evening of the 19th July having only one meal (breakfast) that day, marched until 4 Friday morning, Selpt two hours, marched to the Shenandoah river & had breakfast, then forded the river & marched to Piedmont which place we reached after dark. Had breakfast and then marched out & drawn up in line of battle where we remained until the morning of Sunday the 21th of July. We then went to the cars and started for Manassas Junction which we reached at 11 a.m. here we threw off our knapsacks & went double quick ????? to the battlefield were engaged in the fight but sustaining no loss. After the battle we returned to the junction & on Tuesday marched to Fairfax station, where we still are.

Company G - July & Aug., 1861, dated August 31, 1861 - Stationed at Fairfax Station

. . . Marched to Macon's Hill from Fairfax Station August 28, 1861 and returned August 31st, distance 25 miles. Lost in the battle of Manassas July 21,1861, two men killed & seven wounded.

Company H - July & Aug., 1861, dated Aug. 31, 1861 - Stationed at Fairfax Station on the Orange & Alexandria R. R.

On the 16 of October moved from Camp Blair at Fairfax Station to Centerville and remained there ever since [Oct. 31]

Company K - Left Fairfax Station Oct. 16th and marched to our present camp near Centerville, distance 8 miles

Regiment - October, 1861, dated November 1, 1861 - stationed near Centerville, Va.

Changed station from Camp Blair, Fairfax station to this place near Centerville Oct. 16, 1861 in pursuance of an order form the Commanding General Jos. E. Johnston. Distance traveled about 8 miles

Company B - Nov. & Dec., 1861 - Stationed in Camp near Manassas

Regiment - November, 1861, dated December 8, 1861, stationed at Centerville, Virginia
