Alan,
No flag of the 31st/49th Alabama has survived. Nor, have I found
any dscription of that Regiment's Colors.
Some use the Colors of other Regiments belonging to the same
Brigade as guidelines. I believe this is pure guesswork on their part.
Until an actual flag or description of one surfaces, we just won't know
for certain.
