Re: A. A. Carter, Co. E, 1st Regiment

I saw that ADAH card as well. I noticed the first statement said "Name not found on muster rolls of Co C, 4th (Love's) Alabama Cav for period Apr 1, 1864 to Sep 30, 1864 nor has any record been found of service, capture or parole as of that org.."

That indicates someone made an iquirey having his named attached to the 4th Cavalry.

The A.A. Carters in Mississippi units appear to jsut be other A.A. Carters that the Adj. Gen. Office was able to find records for.

I checked Russell's 4th Alabama Cavalry and there is a record for an A. Carter, Company A, residence Wilcox County, enlisted at Camden on August 7, 1863. His name was on a roll of POWs paroled at Selma, Alabama during the month of June 1865.

Don't know if if its the same man...just interesting that the name and units are very similar.
