Re: Breare's Cavalry Company - Dale County

Sarah, My newest book is on that topic and will be released in a couple of weeks. It is titled "Guerrilla War in the Wiregrass" and explores the irregular fighting that took place in Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia and Northwest Florida in 1863-1865. Among other topics, it looks at the facts of the attacks on Elba and Battle of Fairview, the Battle of Newton, the fighting along the Upper Chipola, the Battle of Parramore, the Sketoe Hanging, Ward's Raiders, etc. Quite a bit of the information uncovered is very different from the legendary stories still told across the region (especially with regard to the Elba incidents).
