Thanks for offering the additional information on John McCluskey, which may help identify his records. The other names and information may prove useful as well. For instance, some ADAH service information on Humphrey Hardwick is incorrect. According to several documents, his date of death is indeed Sept. 20, 1862, but all of them agree that he died at home. I will check the ADAH roll for Co. "C", 5th Alabama Battalion, which should show him absent, sick, at the time of Harper's Ferry. I don't believe there were any casualties in the battalion at Harper's Ferry. The service file list his age as 47 when enlisted on March 4, 1862.

At least a dozen men named David Moore who lived in Alabama enlisted in Confederate service. You have identified three of them -- two from Fayette County, and another from Lowndes who served in the 1st Alabama Regiment. Hopefully I will more on this later. I don't have anything on David B. Moore of Calhoun County yet.
