1st Lieutenant & ADC John Cussons, Law's Brigade, captured at Gettysburg July 2, 1863, received at Fort Delaware, Del. prison camp July 7, sent to Johnson's Island July 18, transferred to Baltimore February 9, 1864, exchanged March 17, 1864, at Richmond, March 22, 1864 requests leave of absence for 5 months to visit his parents in England stating " . . . that he is an exchanged prisoner and that the Gen. to whose personal staff he belongs is under arrest," granted March 26, 1864
