Re: Confederate Training Camp in Dublin, Alabama

Three of my great-great uncles served in Co. K of the 22nd, all dying from wounds at Shiloh. Many in Co. K were from the Ramer area, down Hwy 94 from Dublin. Local legend in Ramer is that Co. K had some kind of gathering, muster, equipment issue, or whatever, at the Ramer Baptist Church, pastored by my great-great grandfather. Part of the meeting allegedly took place under a large oak tree in front of the church. This oak was struck by lightning and died in the latter half of the 20th century. In 2000, another oak was planted in it's place at a special church historical day. This building still stands, and is kept up by the church. I don't know any details, other than the above.
