Mr. Fleming,
You sir are entitled to your opinion, and yes, you may reference the "inquest" as having found him innocent of the murder of his son-in-law (my great grandfather). However, I speak as a family member with history of WJ Edge given to me orally by his son ( my great uncle) and other family members. I do believe he served in McBeth's unit, but he would have been in his early teens (he was born in 1847) at the outbreak of the war As to his rank, he claims he was a captain, but no records show this. So while I appreciate your interest on the subject, I could not disagree more as to your taking umbrage at my comments.
