IV. Maj. Gen. J. P. McCown, Provisional Army, is placed in arrest and charges preferred against him, and will proceed to Chattanooga and await farther orders.
V. Brig. Gen. A. P. Stewart, Provisional Army, is assigned to the command of the division of which Major-General McCown is relieved. It will constitute a part of Lieutenant General Polks corps.
On June 6, 1863, Stewart was reassigned to command of a different division being assembled for duty with the Army of Tennessee. Most of the regiments assigned to McCown's Division wre ordered to Mississippi in May 1863 and eventually became part of Maj. Gen. Samuel G. French's Division.
