Lee --

This command was reconstituted on March 1, 1864. Members had served with the 1st Alabama Cavalry Regiment since Nov. 26, 1862. The 12th Alabama Cavalry Battalion reorganized as a regiment after four independent companies were assigned to it on Nov. 7, 1864. The Partisan Ranger Act had been repealed by Congress, this this command was designed cavalry in 1864-65.

Some members might have gone home early, but eleven signed paroles at Charlotte NC, May 3, 1865. These included Capt. A. D. Bennett and 1st Lieut. Russell L. Phillips of Co. "A", Capts. John L. Reddish of Co. "F" and Charles O. Sheppard of Co. "I".
