My name is Jeff Schave, Platteville WI.
I am researching one of the Commanders of the 38th AL. Reg.
My friend owns a reunion flag from the gathering in 1908. Prominently honored on the flag is Col. A.,R. Lankford. He is re framing the flag with proper materials for conservation. I have found documents and history for him on both the Alabama 38th as well as the battle of Resaca GA. where Lankford was captured defending the colours. I am on a search for any image of the Colonel so he may frame it with the flag as a composite. Would anyone have any input or help for me on this quest to preserve and honor the man and the regiment as well as all the soldiers of Alabama.( Col. Lankford was acually buried in TN.)
Any help or leads would be most gratefully accepted. Would be willing to pay needed expenses.
