Microfilmed Confederate Service Records reported Calvert enlisted in Company H of the 42nd Alabama Infantry at Blountsville on 11 Dec 1862; muster rolls during the siege of Vicksburg reported he was sick in the hospital most of the time; captured at Vicksburg 4 Jul 1863; paroled in the City Hospital 13 Jul 1863; put aboard the U.S. Steamer H. Chouteau en route for Mobile via New Orleans; no further record.

The 1860 Winston County Federal Census recorded Thomas Calvert was born in Alabama about 1834 son of Thomas and Elizabeth Calvert.

Thomas B. Calvert married Hannah B. Gibson on 20 Mar 1861 in Winston County (FamilySearch.org).

Calvert was enumerated on the 1867 Winston County Voter Registration List where he reported he was born 26 Apr 1834 in Walker County.

The 1870 Winston County Federal Census recorded Thomas B. Calvert was born in Alabama about 1834; Hannah B. was born in Alabama about 1839.

The 1880 Blount County Federal Census recorded Hannah Calvert was a widow born in Alabama about 1843.

On her Confederate widow’s pension application, Hannah E. Calvert claimed her husband was a Private in Company H of the 32nd Alabama Infantry; she reported he died 15 May 1876; pension was approved.

The 1900 Cullman County Federal Census recorded Hanna E. Calvert was a widow born in Alabama in Jan 1838.

Monuments in the Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery in Cullman County recorded Thomas B. Calvert was born 26 Apr 1834 and died 15 May 1876. Calvert’s grave was moved from its original location to Bowman’s Chapel before the backwaters of Smith Lake covered up the old Calvert Family Cemetery. A new monument was erected. Hannah E. Calvert was born 26 Jan 1836 and died 23 Apr 1906; she was buried in the nearby Brushy Creek Cemetery.
